    Excellence. Respect. Trust. Collaboration. Accountability.

These are the core values on which West Park Healthcare Centre has built its reputation as a leader in providing specialized rehabilitation, complex continuing and long-term care services, helping individuals manage difficult health challenges like lung disease, diabetes, stroke, amputation and musculoskeletal issues arising from a life-changing event or illness.

Located on a picturesque piece of land on the banks of the Humber River in West Toronto, West Park has been helping patients live the fullest lives possible since 1904. Founded as a sanitarium for tuberculosis patients, West Park has expanded on its role as a leader in tuberculosis care to develop services for other respiratory illnesses and complex conditions.

Through the many talents of our professional staff, dedication to best practices and research, and an unwavering commitment to quality care and patient safety, West Park gets patients on the road to recovery and an improved quality of life.

    Support Clinical Excellence

Since 2005, Links for Life has contributed more than $1.2 million to support West Park Healthcare Centre’s specialized programs and services. This year, with your support, we will invest in West Park’s Comprehensive Spasticity Management Clinic.

Spasticity results from damage to the brain that regulates muscles and controls voluntary movement, which often causes muscles to tighten up like a spring. The common and debilitating condition is experienced by patients who suffer from multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, stroke or other neurological conditions. In Canada, 300,000 people are currently living with the effects of a stroke. Of that number, four out of 10 will develop spasticity.

West Park’s Comprehensive Spasticity Management Clinic features leading experts in spasticity and a full range of specialized, interdisciplinary care for adults with spasticity that encourages independence and productive living in the community. The clinic is also designated as a centre for the training of physicians in spasticity management nationwide.
